Calgary Reads is a non-profit organization that focused on Early Childhood literacy. They encourage families to become enthusiastic readers, accept and distribute book donations, facilitate reading programs and many more. Since our group has a wide range of skills from video editing, motion design, graphic design and web development, we were able to identify the pain points and cater to their New Media needs and deliver the following:
- WeeRead animated banner
- “I’m Ready” Web Booklet
- Tukay Explainer Video
- Five Noodle-Do Videos and one teaser for Instagram
- The main thing was, we did not have enough materials to work with. So, to get around the problem, we added filters by buying similar items to the props used on our filming day, and filming ourselves at home. We also made more animations that was aligned with the VO and theme.
- The second challenge was more of a technical issue. We filmed using three different cameras which had different white balances and settings. So, we had to spend three weeks matching all the color in post production.
- The last challenge was that we had to vectorize the graphic elements in Adobe Illustrator before sending it to After Effects for animating. Because Tukay’s original elements was drawn in Photoshop.
